The first artist off of his own label, Golden Child Records, Ja-Paul transcends the original sound of acoustic jazz by adding a refreshing dose of bass beats, strings from the electric guitar and chords from the electric piano that unite the classic elements of jazz with the modern day edge of hip-hop. Originally from Nassau, Bahamas, Ja-Paul moved to Atlantic City, New Jersey in his early childhood which served as the melting pot metropolis where he was to meet his destiny. Countdown, is not only the title of this magnanimous music maverick’s debut album, but it also parallels his struggle-turned-triumphant story harmoniously arranged in a narrative form about his career as an artist.

On selecting the album’s title: "I thought about the very beginning of time when I wanted be an artist and as a producer of music, I wanted to put Golden Child Records on the map. There were steps that had to be taken and it was a countdown. We are on our way to the countdown of being big, bad and the next major thing."
