Product Description
Drummer Milford Graves, born in New York City in 1941, has been a revolutionary presence in jazz for the past four decades. In the mid-sixties Graves became known for his groundbreaking collaborations with Giuseppi Logan, the New York Art Quartet, Albert Ayler, Cecil Taylor and Amiri Baraka. This historic session, recorded for ESP-Disk' in July 1965 and featuring fellow percussionist Sunny Morgan, made Graves the first drummer to be offered his own LP by the label, and is one of the artist's most exciting early works. Graves continues to play live, and has recently made his recording comeback with two excellent releases on John Zorn's Tzadik label (Grand Unification and Stories). ESP. 2003.
