Originally released 1969 Phallus Dei is the incredible debut by Krautrock pioneers, Amon Düül II. This was one of only two albums to feature British-born bassist Dave Anderson (who would leave to join Hawkwind). Phallus Dei was the result of the original Amon Düül commune breaking up. The first half were more into the politics and community while the other half of the Amon Düül was, of course, far more musically inclined, and became known as Amon Düül II. Phallus Dei is to Amon Düül II what Monster Movie is to Can: each being their most '60s sounding albums. Phallus Dei is a wonderful debut and highly recommended to those who like the more psychedelic end of Krautrock.

Amon Düül II, the second formation of this now legendary band, are one of the earliest and best known of the German experimental (Krautrock) bands. For the complete re-issue series of the Amon Düül II catalogue, the band have included bonus material, issued for the first time anywhere. The CDs will be released as deluxe editions, with enhanced booklets, featuring new liner notes and photos.
