Pinetop's Boogie Woogie
Editorial Reviews
<"b000003mui5228"> From Grove Press Guide to Blues on CD
Perkins, an honored blues mastodon, attends to our faculties of sensual delight while seated at the piano in an Austin recording studio or on Antone's' stage at various times over the past several years. His right hand darts at a full gallop while his left pounds unmercifully, heightening the excitement natural to the playing of alley cats like James Cotton, Kim Wilson, and Jimmy Rogers. The version of Eddie Vinson's "Kidney Stew" swings deep and hard. Perkins's singing is sometimes static, sometimes dynamic. -- © Frank John Hadley 1993
