BUDDY GUY PROTEGE SCOTT HOLT

Scott Holt is a 32 year old guitarist from Columbia, Tennessee. He began taking guitar lessons from Doug Thurman in the summer of 1986. After learning songs by Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan, Scott began to "backtrack" their influences discovering for himself the music of Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Albert King and Buddy Guy. It was Buddy Guy who would have the most direct influence on Scott's music.

In 1987, Scott's father took him to see Buddy Guy at the "London Victory Club in Tampa, FL. After seeing Buddy perform, and going backstage to meet him, Scott knew he wanted to play the blues. Buddy invited Scott to his hotel room the next day for a guitar lesson and to the shows the following night in Ft. Lauderdale. It was an opportunity for Scott to see a real bluesman at work.

On New Years Eve of 1988, Scott was invited by Buddy to come and jam with him at "Musicians Exchange" and "Skippers Smokehouse". Buddy then invited Scott to come to Chicago for the opening of "legends", Buddy's own club. Then in September of 1989, Scott got an invitation from Buddy to join the band. Scott's first gig with Buddy as a member of the Buddy Guy Band was at "The Diamond Club" in Toronto Canada. Since that time ten years ago, Scott has traveled the world over playing with some of the greatest musicians in the world.

After three years with Buddy, Scott formed his own band to work during the time when he wasn't on the road with Buddy. The Scott Holt Band played their first gig at the "Boardwalk Cafe" and have since played at most of the clubs in Nashville that feature blues. The quartet plays a broad range of blues covering the gamut from Chicago style to the contemporary sounds of Robben Ford etc. Whenever Scott isn't on the road with Buddy you can find him playing with his own group. While he loves his current position with Buddy, he intends to eventually go out on his own full time at some point. Until that time he intends to continue developing his style with Buddy as well as with his own group. In 1998 Scott made his first record Messing With The Kid for EMC Records Nashville. Scott's 1999 follow up record Dark Of The Night was produced by Eddie Kramer with special guests Buddy Guy, Jimi Hendrix Band and Stevie Ray Vaughan Band.
