Really Blue is an odd title for this offering from guitarist and singer Tom Principato, for while there's a healthy serving of blues on this album, several selections are anything but, in particular "In Another Dream" that rather reminds one of Eric Johnson. On the other hand, it's a good tune, and like the rest of the album, is played with deft, clean execution and a fine sense of style. Principato's rendition of "Walkin' Blues" sounds odd at first blush, but it's got a nice, tight groove, as does "Standing at the Cross Roads Again." And for diehard blues fans, there's "Every Minute, Every Hour" and "Sweet Little Woman," songs that make one wish Principato would sing more. --Genevieve Williams
