Van Broussard has been playing swamp-pop music and New Orleans R&B for fifty years. He is considered by many to be the King of Swamp-Pop in south Louisiana. Van Broussard was inducted into the Louisiana Hall of Fame in 1997. In April of 2000 Van Broussard was awarded the Living Legend Award and Fifty Years In The Entertainment Business award from the Louisiana Hall of Fame.
