After arriving on the Atlanta blues scene a few years ago, Liz Melendez has established herself as one of the most promising new artists on the blues horizon. Often called "the female Stevie Ray Vaughan", Liz has her own clearly defined lead guitar style. "I hear comparisons to everyone from Freddie King to Albert King to Buddy Guy to Carlos Santana," she says. "It feels really good to be compared to such legendary players." A prolific songwriter and dynamic performer with a powerful and passionate vocal style, Melendez has garnered a sizeable following in the southeast and beyond. "I'm working on conquering the southeast region and making it my home," says Melendez. "It is my goal to become one of the most successful woman performers in the business." Born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico, she came to Georgia because of its great music history. Her new CD Mercy features all-original music by Melendez and is getting substantial airplay all over the country including Georgia, South Carolina and New Mexico.
