Wrong Side of My Life

Malick uses harsh uncompromising imagery delivered with a weathered, Lou Reed-like, talking blues stlye to bring to life characters from his past. There is, for example, the Vietnam vet in Casino Massacre of 1999 who plots to come back and kill all the card players he has been losing to, and Blues For Otis, a tribute to the legendary musician who took Malick under his wing.

He shines throughout with clean, spare guitar work, from the baritone goosed Fashion Cafe to a saving homestretch of soulful blues (including a salute to Spann) where his barbed leads serve the songs rather than his ego.

Guitarist/Singer/Songwriter, Peter Malick, describes his music as "The intersection where BB King meets Lou Reed... not a busy corner." Assisted by Tom Petty keyboardist Benmont Tench and featuring Tom Hambridge, producer of Susan Tedeschi's debut hit CD on drums and handling production, the CD features 13 songs, 11 penned by Malick. With a history that spans such diverse scenes as backing blues greats Muddy Waters, Freddy King, John Lee Hooker & Big Mama Thornton, to living in the home of his mentor, Blues Pianist Otis Spann, to his two years as conductor & guitarist for the musical Hair, to his 'wasted years' working as a casino employee ("everything from shill, to dealer, to casino manager"), to the present day fronting his band based in Boston. Malick's songs are 'snapshots' of his life. A unique CD.
