The New album from Chris Daniels and the Kings, Louie, Louie (Moon Voyage), is not a tribute to frat rock of the early sixties, rather it's a tribute to Louis Armstrong, Louis Jordan, and Louie Prima (you know the guy that wrote "Jump, Jive and Wail"). You can't go wrong with an album when the first track is "If You're So Smart, How Come You Ain't Rich?" Chris got the idea for this album back in '91, but when he ran it by his friend, Dutch DG Big Al, he said "It'll be great, but nobody will buy it. Who wants to hear Swing?" If only Big Al were still alive to see today's charts. Tracks of note besides the aforementioned include: "(You Dyed Your Hair) Chartreuse," "I'll Be Glad When You're Dead, You Rascal You," "Ain't Nobody Here But Us Chickens," "Is You Is Or Is You Ain't My Baby," and "Five Months." fmgb Rock, October 16, 1998

It was supposed to be just an off-night job at the Blue Note.... read more
