Rags to Rhythms

Rags to Rhythms is a collection of rags, two-steps, cake-walks and marches recorded between 1907 and 1926. Unfortunately, this music is probably the most neglected of the jazz and blues idioms, even though it is one of the most important contributions to American pop music. Had it not been for the popularity of the motion picture The Sting in the 1970's and the reproduction of Scott Joplin, the music of the ragtime era may have been lost forever.
Rags to Rhythms, Music, Rags to Rhythms, Jazz Collections, This CD is one of 21 that the Memphis Archives has produced in order to preserve our rich American musical heritage for future generations.
