I listened to the new release "I’m JusVon" by artist JusVon. The music commands the respect of the listener.

<"b00009ovsg2999"> About the Artist
Growing up in Watts, California, the gifted JusVon began playing drums at age three, and continued using his talent playing for the church. By age fourteen he landed his first professional studio experience working with the great Taj-Mahal. From that point he went on to play with other legends such as ZZ Hill, Smokey Wilson, Brenton Woods, The Drifters, Percy Sledge, Otis Clay, and many, many others. He became the mainstay drummer for Tyrone Davis.

The powerful instrumental and vocal arrangements are exciting and full of surprise! JusVon stamps his signature on the tracks in a seasoned, self-assured, world-weary voice that shines forth like crystal. At times he can be mellow and smooth in the voice of Junior Parker; gritty and spontaneous as the voice of Wilson Pickett; and as warm and paternal as the voice of Solomon Burke.

The CD includes songs recorded by the late Buddy Ace, who had a strong influence on the singer. Says JusVon, "Buddy died on stage in Texas on Christmas Eve 1996 doing what he loved doing best. I have a strong conviction to keep his memory alive, and to take this music all over the world. Parliament Records is giving me that opportunity". There are some original songs written/co-written by the artist himself; a surprising version of "Keep It In The Family" – a hit made famous by singer Leon Heywood in the early 70’s, and a song written by Ron Isley called "She Ain’t Givin’ Up No Love". A gospel-infused message song called "Thank You" which tells of a man’s appreciation for his woman, reveals a joyful exuberant side of the singer that lets the listener know there is a spiritual reckoning at work in him.
