<"b0000afwv94999"> Album Description
With "No Mockingbird," Suzy's debut solo CD, she draws upon her intense immersion in roots music of the American South, performing old-time and bluegrass fiddle tunes from Otis Burris and Arthur Smith, among others; blues and rags from Bessie Smith and Memphis Minnie; proto-Western Swing from the East Texas Serenaders of 1920s and 30s and a 1913 klezmer waltz recast as a jug band tune! Particular standouts are Suzy's outstanding vocal renditions of "Handy Man" and Dock Boggs' "Prodigal Son."
