Bad Gravity Day
Editorial Reviews Instrumental chores are shared by Myron Dove on bass, (formerly with Santana) Czech mandolin wiz Radim Zenkl, and Pete Grant who toured with Hoyt Axton for years, plays dobro and slide guitars. Freebo, from Bonnie Raitts band adds tuba to the title track, and Bobby Black, formerly with Asleep at the Wheel, helps finish the album with some stunning Hawaiian steel (double neck, no pedals!).

McCabe puts on the fingerpicks for much of this offering, and takes us down the street for a look at bums, bars, rude waiters and hard-working heroes. Theres even a visit to church, and a cemetery. These are done with Chucks trademark wit and good humor, but theres no mistake hes talking about life and death here, and a few of the songs achieve a poignancy unknown in his previous work; witness one of the songs, Minimum Wager which won the Woody Guthrie competition in 2001.
Bad Gravity Day, Music, Chuck McCabe, Acoustic folkie blues, ragtime and jugband; about half the album is based in fingerpickin' style.
