NAME: JOHNNY R. PERRY (R-DE) BIRTH PLACE: GREECE HOMETOWN: MINNEAPOLIS, MN HEIGHT: 6.O HOBBIES: WRITING MUSIC, BUSINESS, AND READING FAVORITE COLOR: GREEN FAVORITE AUTHOR: ALEX HALEY FAVORITE FOOD: CHICKEN, CHINESE, AND STEAK MUSICIAL INSPIRATIONS: MARVIN GAYE, MICHAEL JACKSON, BOOSEY, RICK JAMES, PRINCE, GEORGE CLINTON My true legal name is Yohnni R. Perry, I was born in Athens, (Greece) - my father was in the military. My mother is from Canada, so I come from a multi-culture background. In his early year’s, my father was also in the music business for a short time. Being from a military background we traveled from place to place. A positive thing in our family was that we always had music wherever we went, so I had chance to listen to such artists as Marvin Gaye, James Brown, Sam Cook, Gladys Knight and many, many others. I started in music when I was just 3 year’s old. My mother would take me to music & dance while my father worked with me on musical instruments (drums, guitar, piano, and voice). I started my professional training from the age of 5 year’s old with many different music and vocal teachers. At the age of 9 year’s old my parents went though a divorce. My mother moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota and my father remained in Riverside, California (I stayed with my mother for the summer) and then would return to California. In Minnesota our family had many relatives that were also in the music business. This was very exciting for me. At the end summer I returned back to California. My father had been sent by the military to a location that my father was unable to care for me, my father then sent me to live with my grand mother (she was very involved with church) my father believed this would also help me in learning more about live music. I started playing drums with the church choir when I was 10year’s old. I was the youngest member in the choir band. I also had a many great musicians in the church that helped bring out more! of my musical ability. This was also the 1st place I got a chance to sing live, which was very exciting for me. My father returned 2 years later when I was 12years old and at this time we moved back to California. Due to the fact the parents were now divorced and there were three other siblings my father was unable to continue to pay for my music lessons and also pay for child support. At this point I used every resource I could to continue to be involved with music. I started working in youth centers and after school programs and whatever music function that was available. At the age of 14 I went back to Minneapolis for more advanced music and vocal lessons. Also at this time I was starting high school (Central high school) which is famous for artist/producers like prince and jimmy jam. At the age of 16 I was approached by an artist to sing and travel with his band. The management company was part of princes sub music Production Company. Due to my age my mother felt this would not be right for me to be on the road at 16 year’s old. At 17 I started college at Inver hills community college. I played with the school’s jazz band for a while, I also attended film school in the city to receive an associate in arts in film making. At the age of 20 I stated playing with different local bands and I learned how to play many different instruments very well - piano, bass guitar - to name a few. Also at this time I was introduced to recording studio’s this is where I had my first chance to have a real understanding of how the whole recording process works, as well as working with artists and producers in the recording environment. A few years later, I traveled from city to city with the Marriott hotel club chain. (Kick’s nightclub) I had a chance to learn a lot about live shows and how to handle working the stage and the audience. After a year and a half I had a strong need to work on my own music. I was able to work with the band rhythm by rhyme. I was the lead singer and we sold many albums. We were famous

R•DE was born in Athens, Greece with the legal name of Yohnni R. Perry, which is translated Johnny R. Perry. Son of an American military man, R•DE and his family travelled frequently and lived in many countries. With a loving Canadian mother our artist was raised in a very multi-cultural surrounding. Having such a diverse childhood we believe created that spark of musical genius only the influence of various artists and musical experiences can create.

Having a father with a stake in the musical industry and a devoted mother R•DE started music and dance at the age of three. By the age of five he was being professionally taught by a vocal and numerous musical instrument teachers. This continued until the age of nine when his parents got divorced and his father took residence in California, USA and his mother moved to Minnesota, USA. Our artist then began to commute between parents and places all the time expanding his ability for music, as he played continuously in the two different venues. This expansion process continued as R•DE moved to Michigan to live with his grandmother. At the age of ten R•DE was now the youngest member of his grandmother's church band as a drummer. This was a huge inspiration for our artist which lead to his first performances live as a singer. After two years his father returned from an overseas assignment and took him back to California, USA to live.

At this point in his life music was no longer an affordable family expense so he had to support his passion, if it was to continue. R•DE began to use every resource he could think of which lead to his involvement in youth centers, after school programs, and whatever music program was available. Now much older and with obvious serious musical talent he began studies at Central High School; which, is noted for students that have become famous in the music industry. During this time, approximately sixteen, he accepted a position as a singer in a band and got his first taste of the real music industry traveling and performing. Unfortunately, this was short-lived as his mother objected and he began college the next year. R•DE's heart lead him to play in the schools jazz band while completing his associates in film making. By twenty years of age he was playing in different local bands in the area live. Within these years is the time our artist feels he learned the whole process of! music which allowed him to develop into the artist we have today.

Over the next few years he traveled with numerous organizations and was the lead singer of "Rhythm by Rhyme" who produced two hit singles "Just like the rain" and "I like it." R•DE has worked with other well known artist such as: George Clinton, Prince, Jill Scott, Jimmy Harris Jam, and many others. Now doing his solo projects under the record label founded for artists/producers to have a chance in the music business to make the money they work so hard to achieve.

Golden Key Inc. is the record label for the people. Visit our new artist's page and download his hot new songs!
