The album doesn't start off promisingly ... [Thomas] seems barely able to hang on to cadences he would have ridden like a rodeo cowboy just a few years ago. But he catches fire as the show goes on, losing some of his rougher vocal edges and goading the crowd into ecstasy with the elan of the venerable showman and trickster that he is.... There's a "too little, too late" feel about this entire project that robs the event of much of its glow.
