Blues Brother

24 vintage Sensation recordings, made between 1948 & 51, they include the stone classic 'Boogie Chillen' (as heard in the movie The Blues Brothers), 'Four Women In My Life' & 'My Baby's Got Something'. Backed only occasionally by fellow Detroit bluesman Eddie Burns (on harmonica on Sailing Blues & Burnin' Hell & probably lead guitar on Alberta), this is John Lee alone with the blues. Raunchy piano-influenced guitar boogie; half-shouted, half-whispered vocals; mesmerizing, irregular rhythms & musical bar lengths. The heritage of the Mississippi Delta in which Hooker was born & the subsequent musical lessons of the big city - Detroit - to which he moved later. Yet, as with all true originals, his greatest gifts are unique -his own sound & his own blues. Ace.
