Mighty Long Time

Star-time hubris often seems to block Cotton from finding the joy and/or sadness in songs, but that's not the case here, when he's in the studio next to fellow luminaries Luther Tucker, Matt Murphy, Wayne Bennett, and Hubert Sumlin. The material has been chosen intelligently and performed effectively, highlighted by Cotton's rediscovery of early-1950s Sun gems "Straighten Up Baby" and "Hold Me in Your Arms." Even the leader's scorched vocals get over. -- © Frank John Hadley 1993 --This text refers to the Audio CD edition.
