This is the first recording of Steve Hendershot, now the leader of Chicago roots rock band The Charm. "Built By Hand" is a little more laid back than The Charm's "Even As We Speak," a little more folk- and blues-based. But it's the same original songwriting, the same powerful vocals and compelling guitar work. It was recorded in 1999, while the Steve Hendershot Band was based in Des Moines, Iowa.
