The Stephen Barry Band has long been established as one of Canada's finest blues and folk-blues ensembles. Stephen Barry has assembled some of the city's best blues musicians and they have been performing steadily for the last twenty years. The Stephen Barry Band has performed on every blues stage in Quebec, Ontario and the Maritimes as well. Over the years the Stephen Barry Band has had the privilege of performing with such blues legends as John Lee Hooker, Bo Diddley, Pinetop Perkins, Hubert Sumlin, Big Mama Thornton; as well as legendary blues/R&B artist Harry Vann "Piano Man" Walls, in concert and on his final release "In the Evening".

The Stephen Barry Band released their fifth recording titled "The Gold Record" in February 1998. The album was produced in collaboration with Danny Greenspoon. (Great Big Sea, Jane Bunnett, Spirit of the West) and it clearly demonstrated their deep understanding of the blues and also showcased the writing skills of Stephen on several roots rock oriented songs.
