Collection of military ballads, narrations to music, and one blues number, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Korean conflict. The powerful words and music of Korea Veteran Frank G. Gross, performed by the mellow voice and inventive musical accompaniment of John Carpino, recall the heroism of American soldiers marching with frostbitten feet through a flurry of bullets and snow. You will hear the military drums beating and the wintry winds howling. The album commemorates the Battle of the Chosin Reservoir, November-December 1950, in which U.S. Marines (including Gross) fought against overwhelming odds and freezing cold in a strategic withdrawal along mountain trails to the sea, leading 100,000 refugees to safety.
