Bill was a founding member of the very first electric blues band in Calgary in the 1960's, the Children Blue, who were heavily influenced by the Paul Butterfield sound. After living and performing in Toronto and Vancouver, he returned to Calgary and founded the popular "Alta Blues" a six -piece blues act that toured extensively throughout Canada. Then it was the "hottest band in the land", the nearly legendary "Johnny V and the Houserockers", with Johnny V Mills on guitar, and Bill doing the harp and vocal work in the band that brought the blues to fans across the west. Bill left the road in 1985 to look after his family, but he kept on working with "Bill Hills and the 9th Ave Allstars" which was a staple blues act at the "King Eddy" and around the city working with many of the touring acts that passed through the city.Bill has worked with: Dr. John, Son Seals, Matt Murphy, Mr B, Mose Allison, John Hammond, Otis Rush, Pinetop Perkins, and many other touring blues acts.

With the release of "Ought to be a Law", this veteran Calgary blues artist showcases his legendary song-writing, singing and harp playing. After living and performing in Toronto and Vancouver, he returned to Calgary and founded the popular "Alta Blues" a six -piece blues act that toured extensively throughout Canada. Then it was the "hottest band in the land", the nearly legendary "Johnny V and the Houserockers", with Johnny V Mills on guitar, and Bill doing the harp and vocal work in the band that brought the blues to fans across the west. Bill's new CD showcases the talents of his friends, guitarist, Russell Foreman, who worked in the Allstars, drummer, Jimmy Payne who was with Bill in the Houserockers and the Allstars, and bassist Kevin Christensen, who works with Bill in "The Thomas T Band", a very popular blues foursome that is constantly working the club scene in Calgary, and throughout the province.
