Donald's guitar still has a wild rock 'n' slam thrust, yet this time he reins it in some and offers a tighter blues focus. Indeed, a certain spirit gleaned from the music of his singer/guitarist father Lester (present on the country blues "Good Mornin' Mississippi"), Jimmy Reed, Muddy Waters, and B. B. King informs the ordering of his vocals, playing, and songwriting-the melodies and lyrics are often better than passable. The other Kinseys bluster their thickly textured patterns with clear logic and relentlessness. -- © Frank John Hadley 1993
