<"b000000zig5228"> From Grove Press Guide to Blues on CD
Worth his salt, Little Milton can make bittersweet love pleas and assents seem spontaneous and formal at once. That's often true on this 1974 set, where he bores into good material (from B. B. King, Betty Everett, and himself) as Memphis rhythm shamans put a funky soul spell on the blues. The strings and horns, thankfully, don't draw undue attention to themselves. -- © Frank John Hadley 1993 --This text refers to the Audio CD edition.
