W.C. Spencer is a bluesman that marches to the sound of a different drummer, his own!!! Considered as the best one-man-band of all time, W.C. Spencer has created a third remarkable CD of blues now for Catscan Records that explores many styles within the blues genre. Spencer’s remarkable journey into invention started in 1974 when he replaced the bassist and drummer with his feet! Spencer’s fret and harp work shine like beacons as he rides roughshod over this disc with his slide and fretted guitar work. Most astonishing is the fact that eight cuts on the album are completely live one-take offerings where Spencer plays/sings ‘everything at once’. The results are songs that are truly satisfying but are also sonically detailed masterpieces of blues and musical artistry. Although this CD will be long remembered for his instrumental tribute to Roy Buchanan and Danny Gatton entitled So Long, this album also sports four other Spencer originals that showcase his songwriting and arranging talents along with the Herculean task of playing all of the instruments.
