The Decadent Royals are a tight and gutsy rock band that fuses elements of classic rock (Rolling Stones, Faces) with a hard-hitting, '90s sound la the Black Crowes. Having said that, this band still comes across with a sense of freshness and vitality. Its latest CD, The New Groovy, exudes infectious, stripped-down rock 'n' roll. The bluesy, acoustic "Come One", the rollicking, slide guitar/horn-propelled "Pain Killer" and the guttural grind of "Tired" all highlight the band's raucous side while the folky "Watch You Run" shows a more delicate side.

The album opens with the raucous rocker Get Higher, complete with gospel-influenced female background vocals. From there, The Decadent Royals take the listener on a journey incorporating country and blues influences into their distinct sound. Tracks include the hard-rocking R & B horn-spiced Painkiller, the bluesy delta shuffle of Come On, and the country flavored Am I the One.
