All Fired Up
Editorial Reviews He possesses a style that, while uniquely his own, is very deeply schooled in the Motown sound, R and B, Funk, Texas Swing, and of course, blues. His debut CD, HAMILTON, is a veritable showcase of his talent. He easily moves from toe-tapping dance tunes, to deep soulful ballads, to deep in the heart of the blues. It even has him trading licks and friendly banter with one of his mentors, the venerable Bo Diddley. Rock and roll's founding father put it best when he said, "You got to put some seasonin' in what you're doin', and this boy's got the whole salt shaker!" Influenced by his parents' blues and soul record collection, Hamilton first expressed himself musically on drums at age 5, but his interest soon encompassed piano, guitar, bass, and harmonica. His first performance vehicle was "Family Affair," a band started by him and his parents while he was still a pre-teen. Now fronting his own group, the Houston Press Magazine describes him as "...the next blues-god guitarist to emerge from the Gulf Coast." By 1992, more than one music legend had noticed the Galveston, Texas native's talent. In addition to sharing the stage with Bo, Hamilton has also performed with Grammy winners Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown, and the late Johnny "Clyde" Copeland and Albert Collins. Hamilton has already crammed years of paying "blues dues" into his career. Having performed at over 40 festivals in the last three years, Hamilton received critical acclaim as a featured performer at the Delta Blues Festival in Greenville, Mississippi in both 1993 and 1994. He has opened for a list of greats that reads like a blues who's who: Johnnie Taylor, Little Milton, Koko Taylor, Latimore, and the late Buddy Ace, to name a few. "The common thread I've found in the blues is humor," Hamilton explains. "Blues doesn't have to be sad or negative." This is evident on his new CD, "All Fired Up", which showcases his maturing talent, and is but another glimpse of what is sure to be a long productive musical career.

Hamilton Loomis is the future of modern music. The Austin American Statesman heralds him as "...a certifiable guitar hero...a polished vocalist who knows how to get the message across." Very few artists are able to meld such a strong sense of the past with such an ardent vision of the future. T-Bone, Muddy, and B.B. shared that vision. Perhaps future generations will add the name Hamilton Loomis to that list of luminaries. Scott Jordan, of Offbeat Magazine said, "This kid has the goods...and I predict everyone is going to know his name both inside and outside of blues circles.

This is the third CD for Hamilton Loomis and it brings to mind the soulful rhythms of the Memphis Sound of the "60s-horn-driven, bluesy, fat and funky sound. Hamilton co-produced this CD with King's X veteran Steve Ames, and wrote nine of the eleven cuts. He also wrote and arranged all the horn charts, and plays some hot harp and keyboard solos as well as his "Fired Up" guitar. Hamilton used his six-(6) piece band, which includes two horns, guitar, bass and drummer. At the release of his first CD in '94 critics called Hamilton a guitar whiz, phenom and prodigy. He has proven them right, performing steadily in the Gulf Coast area, building a loyal fan base of all ages.
