Cry & Moan
Editorial Reviews
<"b00000048i5228"> From Grove Press Guide to Blues on CD
Put simply, Southern soul bluesman Eddie Hinton is one of the most rousing singers of the past twenty-five years. Resurfacing of late after abject times, he bears down on a dozen good-to-fine originals with all the stark immediacy and subjective certainty his crying, moaning, rasping, pleading, and testifying can muster. Loads. Furthermore, his guitar playing still has the intrinsic merit it had when he was an acclaimed Muscle Shoals studio musician in the late 1960s. Hinton and Ron Levy are responsible for the triumphant cry of the production. One hopes Capricorn reissues his 1978 album Very Extremely Dangerous. -- © Frank John Hadley 1993 --This text refers to the Audio CD edition.
