Editorial Reviews
<"b0000003oz5228"> From Grove Press Guide to Blues on CD
Rhode Island's horn-powered Roomful of Blues, class of 1980, clearly loves the jump blues and jazz it swings so determinedly on its third album. But only Roomful's versions of Johnny Otis's "New Orleans Shuffle" and T-Bone Walker's "Two Bones and a Pick" encourage listeners to share the passion. Greg Piccolo defuses eight others with his washed- out singing, and two Duke Ellington numbers won't have you confusing these whippersnappers with the regal men. Truth he told, Roomful guitarist Ronnie Earl's not all that convincing a T-Bone Walker, either. -- © Frank John Hadley 1993 --This text refers to the Audio CD edition.
