One Last Winter
Editorial Reviews A perhaps more important strength, is that Bill possesses a good voice -something that is so often lacking, in otherwise excellent musicians. "Sometimes, I get caught up in playing the guitar/piano so much, I neglect my voice, and forget that this is what most people really want to hear. This is not to say that I'm going to take less guitar solos, but I need to keep the voice on at least the same level." In concert he mixes his many original songs with other tunes that he "just wants to play". He leans toward blues/rock which gives him opportunity to solo on electric guitar. Bill is new to the Chicago land area, and here, he hopes to find the mature eclecticaudience that will connect with his unique sound. If you're not too young to appreciate a good melody, but not too old to enjoy some blues guitar licks; and, if you still like rock and roll, without wishing to leave your brain and musical savvy at the door, then Bill Ward just might be the ticket you're looking for. BAND_MEMBERS: Bill Ward He says, "I love the blues, but I get bored fairly quickly playing the same progression over and over again all night, and the same holds true for other styles. -and actually this can be a problem for me when trying to limit myself to what people, and the music industry, want you to be." "I enjoy and seek out places that give me more freedom of musical expression. I feel that many people, once exposed to variety, will end up enjoying it; -but maybe I'm an idealist."

Bill's strength lies in his ability to handle these many styles well. Not only can he sing a rock song with guts, he can also soothe with a romantic piano ballade. Even with all this variety, the sound is not a hodgepodge; and there remains a thread that runs through all the music that is distinctively Bill Ward. Much of the music has a bluesy pensiveness to it; -from the raw, "this is the way life is", to the dreamlike "this is the way it should be".

If variety is the spice of life, then Bill Ward is as spicy as any performer can get. Playing piano, as well as acoustic and electric guitars, the sounds range from blues, to rock, to pop; from folk, to even classical and jazz. It is difficult to pinpoint any striking similarities to other artists. In many ways, speaking of his original songs, this music seems to have been largely created independent from outside influences. The arrangements are tasteful and fresh.
