JEAN SHY BIOGRAPHY

JEAN SHY is an internationally acclaimed R&B/Soul/Jazz & Gospel Singer, Songwriter, Producer and Actress. She is a unique and audiences are overwhelmed by her vocal delivery. Born in Chicago, Jean’s vocal background had it’s beginning in Gospel Music. ELVIS PRESLEY was her first Inspiration to become a Singer and Entertainer. Later she was also influenced by MAHALIA JACKSON, DINAH WASHINGTON and ARETHA FRANKLIN. Jean was already receiving awards for her musical talents by the time she reached High School. At the age of twelve she made her first recording for the legendary Chess Label in Chicago. Later Jean also recorded for BRUNSWICK, PLAYBOY, FANTASY and RSO RECORDS, with which she had a number nine Record on the Billboard Top 100 Disco Charts , entitled NIGHT DANCER and THAT OLD BLACK MAGIC. After her success with RSO she formed her own Band THE SHY GUYS. As a Group they toured Europe developing their own Style, Sound and a great following. JEAN SHY wrote and produced her Albums entitled MAZE (I JUST WANNA ESCAPE) and TOUGH ENOUGH . RECORD SHACK RECORDS released TOUGH ENOUGH in Europe and a smattering of other countries. JEAN SHY returned to America to sign a five year contract with LEVER BROTHERS, to do a :15 and :30 Sec. Spot for DOVE SOAP. Because of this National commercial she was then represented by California’s biggest Commercial Agency SUTTON, BARTH & VENNARI through which she landed other major Commercials for SILO ELECTRONICS, US WEST COMMUNICATIONS as well as AMES DEPARTMENT STORES. In the mean time Jean hosted her own TV Talk-Show THE JEAN SHY RHYTHM & NEWS SHOW which aired weekly on Cable TV. She went back to Europe to promote her newly written and recorded CD READY FOR LOVE, produced by MICHAEL MC GREGOR and continued touring with THE SHY GUYS. After her release of READY FOR LOVE, she landed a No. 7 Hit with WHERE `R `U NOW and a No. 5 with MERCEDES BENZ in the Benelux countries with the Dutch Formation T-SPO! ON Featuring JEAN SHY. By the request of many Jean Shy Fans there finally has been a release of a Live–CD by JEAN SHY & THE SHY GUYS entitled UNCHAIN MY HEART (Soul/R&B/Rock) as well as a Gospel CD (which is Jean’s first Gospel CD), by the name of AMAZING GRACE (for anybody that knows Jean’s Live-Concerts they know why she choose that Song as the CD Title).

Jean's CD STILL SWINGIN (After All These Years)" recorded Live in Cologne with "THE CLIMAX BAND", celebrating their 20 Year Stage Anniversary in 2002. Performing with THE CLIMAX BAND has been a Continuous Special Project for Jean over the Years, keeping her "Jazz"-Roots alive within Germany's and Holland's Jazz & Blues Circuits.

SHY just finished her brand new CD entitled THE OTHER SIDE OF BLUE, recorded at the Radio Krakow Studio, with the JBBO - one of the most known European Jazz formations internationally from Krakow, Poland.

Together they’ve decided to branch out away from their individual recording styles and try a completely new approach to conquering the music market. Taking a new musical directions with the Production of THE OTHER SIDE OF BLUE JEAN SHY & JBBO present an original and extraordinary "Smooth Jazz" CD.

On THE OTHER SIDE OF BLUE Jean brings her completely unique vocal Instrument to the plate, presenting a melodic cocktail of Jazz, Blues and Soul with lots of feeling.

Eight of the twelve CD Tunes are compositions written and composed by Jean. The Songs talk about real Life Issues such as Love, Pain and Self-Realization. The Cover Songs have been very carefully selected and have been rarely covered, if at all. All the titles have been marvellously arranged in a fresh new Jazz Style by JBBOs fantastic Pianist WOJTEK GROBORZ and have a great cross over potential.

As Individual Entities JEAN SHY & JBBO have hit many Home Runs, but together as a Team maybe they can win the World Series.

SPECIAL PROJECT "JEAN SHY & THE CLIMAX BAND" In the beginning of the 80's they met each other and "Love at first sight" turned into a long lasting working releationship which is still ongoing today. Their first Album was recorded in 1983. Off and On JEAN SHY & THE REAL CLIMAX BAND worked together all through the Years. Therfore it was way overdue to have a new product together. So in 1995 they recorded their CD "The Night Time Is The Right Time" which includes lots of the material they perform Live together up to date; and for those of you that don't know for sure when it's the best time to listen to this mosaic of Standards and groovy tunes with influences of Rock, Soul, Shuffle and Blues let it be said that: .
