Editorial Reviews
<"b000000mri5228"> From Grove Press Guide to Blues on CD
Ecclesiastical confusion aside, Sterling 'Satan" Magee and Adam Gussow are the Harlem curbside duo who spin the listener in the vortex of a most idiosyncratic and restive brand of down-home blues. Satan's pitchfork-in-the-ribs singing and simultaneous ravaging of electric guitar and percussion seemingly come direct from the fires of primeval creation. Harmonica player Adam leaves any sense of white middle-class decorum twenty blocks to the south. Fortunately the recording studio doesn't bridle the pair's raw enthusiasm any. -- © Frank John Hadley 1993
