Editorial Reviews Edwin H. Lemare was one of the greatest and most popular organists at the turn of the 20th century. He attracted enormous crowds to organ recitals and was known for his orchestral transcriptions. His original compositions are not as well known. Roger Fisher has made what might be the only recording of Lemare's First Symphony, on the 1930 Skinner Organ at Saint Peter's Church. This instrument is perfectly suited for the playing of this Romantic literature. The First Symphony, in four movements, is highly structured, colorful and made up of Victorian sounding themes. This Symphony and other works make up a disc of stunning but rarely heard Romantic organ music.
