BACH: Christmas Oratorio BWV 248 - The Sixteen Harry Christophers
Editorial Reviews The Sixteen was founded in 1977 by Harry Christophers with the clear intention of concentrating on early English, Renaissance and twentieth century works. Upon the creation of its accompanying orchestra the Baroque period was added to its repertoire. Consequently they have amassed a substantial discography drawing upon the masterpieces (and more unfamiliar material) of these eras. They keep a busy worldwide schedule giving concerts regularly. Amongst notable performances given are their Salzburg Festival debut in 1989 and the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden in 1991.
