Barriére: Sonatas for Cello / Bruno Cocset, Les Basses Réunies
Editorial Reviews
Album Description
Sonatas for Cello and Bass Continuo
Almost unknown today, Jean Barriére was one of the greatest virtuoso cellists of his time. Though not completely unfamiliar to "specialists", his works deserve a much wider recognition, not only for their virtuosic qualities, but also for their sensitivity and fine use of colour. This music is quite simply brilliant. We cannot help wondering what other marvels he might have written had he not died so young and the very height of his artistry. CD comes with booklet that features beautiful art and extensive liner notes in French and English in true Alpha Productions fashion.
