Versailles: The Enchanted Island
Editorial Reviews
Album Description
The concept behind this recording is rather unusual. As far as we know, it marks the first time in which Baroque music is performed for the tailor-made soundtrack of a video game. After the success of "Versailles - Intrigue at the Court of Louis XIV", The Reunion des Musees Nationaux and CRYO decided to go work on a sequel. But, rather than using background music from unrelated sources, the fantasy of the producers went further. They contacted the Versailles Centre for Baroque Music for advice, and subsequently called upon Skip Sempé and his Capriccio Starvagante Orchestra to create the music for a new production, Versailles II - The Testament". Beautifully packaged, loaded with exquisite portraits of Versailles, the CD has recieved critical acclaim which is par for Alpha Producations. The CD comes with 30 page booklet featuring extensive liner notes and libretto in French and English. Enjoy!
