Editorial Reviews
Keynotes, 2/99
This is a trail-blazing project, indeed. Here we have recordings combining the stops of organs in Germany and Canada, which the performing artist has never seen, heard in the acoustical ambiance of the Wisconsin state capitol. I can just see the collective noses of organ purists arching high into the air! The proof is in the listening, however. I am amazed by the results and am interested in how others react to these recordings.
Album Description
Features the organ music of John Davison, American composer and professor of music at Haverford College. Also features both sets of 7 Chorale Preludes by Hubert Parry (1848-1918). Recorded using sampled sounds from a Sauer organ in Halle, Germany and a von Beckerath organ in Montreal, Canada.
