Editorial Reviews
Fanfare Magazine, May/June 1999
This collection represents the golden age of music at St. Mark's basilica in Venice, starting with the arrival of Adriaan Willaert as maestro di cappella in 1527. The choir from Cape Cod sang a concert at St. Mark's in 1991, during one of their early European tours, and were invited to return to participate in the observance of the 900th anniversary of the basilica in 1994. This recording followed. The music is a systematic survey of composers who were active at St. Mark's . . . This collection is a good overview that will lead a listener to comparisons with other versions. Recommended.

From the relatively intimate to the resounding, the choir moves with consumate ease from one musical feast to the next, effortlessly adjusting to the requirements of each period. This is gorgeous music and these discs are a triumph.
