These three composers suffered the scorn of many critics when they were alive because they composed for (horror!) movie soundtracks and got paid (gasp!) big bucks for it. In fact, none these compositions threatens the status of Beethoven or Brahms, but the composers were solidly trained in the Central European classical tradition, they knew how to write and orchestrate a tune, and their lush, late-Romantic style is tailor-made for Jascha Heifetz. --Joe McLellan
