Singer Nati Mistral combines the guts and passion of real Flamenco "cantaora" with an attractive classical voice. The result in El amor brujo (Love the Magician) is the best ever rendition of its various songs. Fruhbeck de Burgos is no slouch either--one of the most committed and persuasive advocates that Falla has enjoyed in our day. He's also been active as an arranger himself, and he deserves the credit for these bold and bright orchestrations of Grenados's Suite española--formerly for piano solo. The two works make a perfect coupling, and at mid-price this is one of the best discs of Spanish classical music around. --David Hurwitz
