Always Never Enough
Editorial Reviews
No Depression
...this band knows exactly what to do with a good song.
From the Artist
"We started thinking about this CD pretty much right after finishing the last one," says Kenny Smith. "Id say the last one leaned toward the picking a little bit, but this one leans a lot more toward the singing. We really went after the songs this time, and we wanted ones that lent themselves to different kinds of harmonies. We had so many good tunes that people sent us that we just took the best ones!"
Album Description
Firmly rooted in bluegrass soil, Always Never Enough demonstrates the Kenny & Amanda Smith Band's profound grasp of the musics essentials and its heritage. Evergreens like the ancient "Going Across The Sea" and the Stanley Brothers "Our Last Goodbye" are offered with a seamless blend of innovation and respect for tradition, while Becky Bullers driving "Why Do You Do What You Do" reveals that traditional elements are still vital in the hands of talented young songwriters. Like the Buck Owens-penned title track of their last album, Mel Tilliss "A Thousand Miles Ago" is an inspired translation of a classic country song into a new setting that underlines the ties between old country and traditional bluegrass, while "Just Any Day Now" brings new life to a bluegrass gospel classic.
