Editorial Reviews This combination of guitar and voice create a unique blend; Justin is well known for getting the audience to write some impromptu lyrics during his set and then improvising them into a full song at the end of the show! As his audience has grown, Justin has opened for David Wilcox (at Big Top Chautauqua - Bayfield, WI), Martin Sexton (at Amazing Grace Cafe - Duluth, MN), and Cheryl Wheeler (Swallow Hill - Denver, CO). His discography has also grown over the years. Justin has released two solo albums, "Up Until Now" (1997) and "In Between" (2000), and has four original songs featured on a solo guitar compilation album produced by Billy McLaughlin for the Lifescapes series. The CD, titled "Solo Guitar" (2000), can be found at over 1000 Target stores across the county. Justin recently finished a live CD along with fellow Peppermint artist Chris Cunningham, titled "2 Forms of ID." The CD features Justin and Chris performing both original and cover tunes as a duo, as well as solo, and features both on numerous instruments. It was recorded at Amazing Grace Bakery & Cafe in Duluth, in November 2000 near the end of their 60-city tour.
About the Artist
Justin blends thoughtful lyric ballads, groove-oriented folk and fingerstyle guitar. His greatest influences instrumentally come from guitar greats Michael Hedges, Billy McLaughlin and Willy Porter. Justin's technical knowledge and his way of using the entire guitar for innovative instrumentals captivates people. Lyrically and vocally, he is most influenced by David Wilcox, Martin Sexton and John Gorka. The music reflects his life up until now, but he builds upon words in a way that makes you feel he is singing your story.
