Editorial Reviews The band consists of Mary Cole (vocals, guitar, bass and percussion), Gary Kurtz (vocals, guitar, bass, harmonica, and fiddle), Ward Morton (b vocals, drums, and percussion), and Mel Smith (vocals, guitars, and mandolin). Having everyone participate in the vocal duties leads to a nice harmony Individual members of Mr. Mole have played the Calgary Folk Festival, Shady Grove Bluegrass/Country Music Festival, Salmon Arm Acoustic Music Festival, and the Blueberry Music Festival, to name just a few. As well, they have shared audiences with the likes of James Keelaghan, Dave Mallet, Margaret Christl, Susan Crow, Don Ross (Harbord Trio) and Ian Tamblyn. Their whimsical sobriquet is inspired by Mary's early enchantment with the character Mole in Wind in the Willows and the gentle. humorous visage of good-hearted Mole seems a fitting image for this delightful group. The musicianship on From The Outside is fantastic with a bit of bluegrass sound as well as contemporary folk.
