Album Description
Lorraine Duisit and Tom Espinola announce the release of Little Folks’ Songs for Little Country People , a CD of original songs for children, on their own Creative Life Records label. Parents' Choice Foundation has awarded the recording a prestigious silver medal for fall 2001 releases and describes it as “an unusually inviting collection of 24 tuneful, light-hearted folk sing-along and play along songs.”

The Parents’ Choice Awards Seal is awarded to products that meet or exceed standards set by educators, scientists, performing artists, librarians, parents, and yes, kids themselves. The Foundations' purpose is to search out and recommend products that help kids grow imaginatively, physically, morally, and mentally and that are fun, safe, and socially sound.

Little Folks’ Songs was also awarded honors from Parents’ Guide to Children’s Media, judged by teachers, librarians, university specialists, staff writers from major newspapers, and children.

Multi-instrumentalists Tom and Lorraine are joined by former Trapezoid bandmates Freyda Epstein (vocals, violin), and Ralph Gordon (bass), so the recording delivers a folk acoustic feel reminiscent of Lorraines' eight years with the band while exploring the themes of childhood in the country. Howard Levy contributes stellar harmonica to verses about boyhood favorites (tractors, schoolbuses, firetrucks, etc.), and the Espinola children Evan and Nicole sing choruses about summer hikes, learning to pump on a swing, and “country” reasons for honking your horn (all of them friendly!) Also friendly are songs about trick or treating and pumpkin carving. “Waiting for the Wind is a lovely ode to the way plants propogate by sending seeds sailing on the breeze; there are seed pod “Fairy Ghosts”, a lonely witch who finds a furry friend...and the vocally inventive Frogpond is just about worth the price of the album all by itself!” (Parents’Choice)
