About the Artist
tr willits went from high school graduation to touring with Billy Joel as opening act. Performing for thousands sharing the stage with Aerosmith, Jonathan Edwards, Lucy Kaplansky, The Mamas and the Papas, Tom Rush and Peter, Paul and Mary, and before his own audience, tr has excited many for twenty five years. His recordings include IN YOU and EVERYTHING YOU DO and his movie recordings include VIDEO LOVE, which was heard in Valet Girls, and the movie soundtrack development for One Strike You're Out. His recordings were heard in the Japanese television series Ari Deka. He has written over two hundred songs and been published for other artists. tr has also produced records for The Fabulous Heavyweights and Chris Kleeman. tr has recently collaborated with dancer/choreographer, Harriett Jastremsky, to create and perform music for a new modern dance piece called...spark...which premiered in Northampton, MA in September of 2001 and will open in New York City and Paris, France during the year 2002. tr has just finished his latest commissioned work of four songs for an elder service non-profit to be released as part of a self-empowerment picture book/video/music presentation for outreach to all generations. tr is presently out on tour performing in acoustic clubs and "house concerts" throughout the country. tr's latest release, KEEP THE FAITH, is a collection of thirteen self-penned songs, except for GIULIA'S SONG. Album Description
KEEP THE FAITH is an acoustic cd of rhythmic guitar and melodic piano songs with poetic, poignant lyrics written and sung by tr willits. The songs reflect on love, years passed by and on loss, yet always with a sense of hope and inspiration. There's a sense of suffering beneath many of the songs, but it never diminishes the songs overall uplifting nature. KEEP THE FAITH, the title track played on guitar, speaks to the importance of staying life's course no matter how tough it gets. TAKE A HOLIDAY, played on guitar, suggests everyone needs to enjoy themselves in the midst of hectic lives. INSIDE OF ME, played on piano, is a tribute to the empty nest syndrome when children take wing in their own lives. YOU LOVE ME, played on guitar, reflects on losing a loved one and still hearing their whispered love. LITTLE STRANGER, played on guitar, honors all the abused children in the world. I PROMISE, played on piano, speaks of promising love to another every single day. GIFT OF MEMORIES, played on guitar in D tuning, remembers a grandfather and how at some point a grandchild becomes a grandfather too. HOT LITTLE TEASIN' MACHINE, played on guitar, rings of having a relationship with someone that can't be had. GIULIA'S SONG, played on piano, sings of an era gone by of love and heartbreak. ONCE UPON A TIME, played on guitar, remembers the lost time of growing up. I WANT TO BE JUST LIKE YOU, played on guitar, flows like the river it is inspired by. FAIRY TALES, played on guitar, reflects on the love and times of knights in shining armour. TOUCH OF GRACE, played on piano, honors all the heroes of the world.
