Editorial Reviews
Ann Mortifee, singer songwriter, recipient of the Order of Canada Award.
In a spiral of Sacred Sound, the seed of your song children drift upon the winds, spreading beauty and love.
Danny Zanbilowicz, The Comox Valley Island Word.
This remarkable acoustic CD is full of rich harmonies and wonderfully, expansive, healing energy.
Album Description
Produced by Denise Wolda, engineered by Tim C. Palmer and recorded in Ann Mortifees studio on Cortes Island, this album features the rich and powerful harmonies of Denise Wolda, and Ann Mortifee, as well as Mikael Hospes, Denises daughter. Instrumentation includes guitar, bass, flute, whistle, saxophone, keyboards, didjeridu, djembe, and cello. The cello is a Wolda family heirloom and was made in Paris France in 1749. The raven and songbirds, who introduce and close the album, reside in Tiber Bay, Denises home. To Honour Joy is a multi-media CD. A slide show by photographer, Irene Blueth, enhances the sound track Feel The Island and a candid, comic, Quicktime video of the artists recording High Flyin Fly, by Richard Trueman, are included for those people with a computer. Worth the wait, To Honour Joy does just that, and the songs instill hope at a time when hope is needed most!
