This is a magnificent performance of the greatest cello concerto ever written. Frans Helmerson worked extensively with Rostropovich, the Dvorák Cello Concerto champion, and it's safe to say that his playing rivals that of his great Russian colleague. He's also beautifully recorded, with a natural balance against the orchestra that allows a true dialogue between the performances. In short, a real winner. --David Hurwitz
