Album Description
Mozart's most famous contemporary and rival, Antonio Salieri was made immortal in "Amadeus", the cult film of the 80's. But of course, dozens of other important composers lived at that time too. Some of them are presented in this set of 3CD's. The musical genres of the symphony and the sonata were absolutely new then, and each composer consequently made his attempts in these new forms of instrumental music. The present anthology shows a cross section of the creative activity of the time, and it is left to the listener to decide how much "Mozart" can be detected in the music written by his contemporaries.
Christine Schornsheim, Maria Luisa Tanzini, Burkhard Glaetzner, Martin Sandhoff, Andrew Joy, Petersen Quartet, Concerto Köln Chamber Orchestra, Cappella Coloniensis, Berliner Barock-Compagney.
