VIVALDI: Cantatas / Max Emanuel Cencic / Ornamente 99
Editorial Reviews Max Emanuel Cencic, counter-tenor(P) Ornamente 99 For many concertgoers today, Antonio Vivaldi is first and foremost the composer of The Four Seasons, and indeed, even during his lifetime that set of concertos brought him particular acclaim. Yet reducing Vivaldi to those four works hardly does him justice. The matter of Vivaldi's cantatas should be seen in relation to the prevailing opera tradition. Following his debut with "Cantate d'amore" by Scarlatti (CD: 67 067) the young countertenor Max Emanuel Cencic is now releasing his second solo recital on the Capriccio label: five solo cantatas by Antonio Vivaldi. The vocal works of the composer, have until now led a wallflower existence in the shadow of his numerous concertos and sonatas. Cencic is once again accompanied by Ensemble 99 under Karsten Erik Ose.
