About the Artist
Sam Rotman received his Bachelor and Master Degrees from the Juilliard School. He has been among the winners in five international piano competitions including Laureate Winner in the Fourth International Beethoven Competition in Vienna, Austria. He has performed over 1500 concerts in 50 countries including North, Central and South America, Eastern and Western Europe, Southeast Asia, Japan, Russia and South Africa. Each year he performs over 120 concerts in fifteen countries.
Album Description
This recording features one of the greatest works for the piano, Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition. Mussorgsky invites us to his emotional experience as he musically portrays the art exhibit he attended in 1874. The recording includes notes that describe the various pictures. Rachmaninoff was one of the great pianist of the 20th century, and could evoke very powerful sounds from the modern piano. His most famous piece, the Prelude in C-sharp minor, is included in this recording.
